Author Bio: DANIEL R. SANCHEZ is a Professor of Missions at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He started two churches during his student days. He then served as an appointed missionary in Panama where he taught at the seminary and trained students to start and develop curches. Upon his returned he served as Assosiate Director at the Home Mission Board and then as Director of Missions for the Baptist Convention of New York where he led in the initiation of record numbers of churches. He is an author of Starting Reproducing Congregations and Church Planting Movements in North America. For many years he taught and practiced Lifestory Encounters as an evangelistic tool. This sparked his interest in Bible Storying. For several years Dr. Sanchez has joined forces with J.O. Terry to teach courses and workshops at Southwestern Seminary and in other countries.
J.O. TERRY served under the International Mission Board of the Philippines in 1968 and then as the Asian-Pacific Region media consultant until 2003. At the invitation of Dr. Jim Slack, J.O. Terry contributed to the development of Chronological Bible Storying. Terry has led workshops and conferences in 35 countries, numerous Bible Schools, Universities, and Seminaries. In addition to writing Basic Bible Storying, J.O. Terry serves as publisher if the Bible Story Newsletter and the Journal for Bible Storying. He continues to teach Bible Storying and shares his experience with Bible Storyers in many parts of the world.
LANETTE W. THOMPSON and her husband Marvin pioneered the Chronological Bible Storying method for the International Mission Board, SBC in West Africa in the late 1990's. Het master's thesis, The Nonliterate and the Transfer of Knowledge in West Africa, as well as her writings on CBS have been widely used to train believers to use oral methods. She served on the orality task force for the Lausanne Conference on World Evangelism in 2004 and is currently involved in missionary training in West Africa. |
